A quaint seaside town with a huge sprawling beach, Dahanu is situated in Thane district. This once barren land thrived under Irani settlers and boasts of some of the country's best 'chickoo' orchards. Quite near is 'Udwada' the sacred town of Paris.

Other fruits grown in the area are coconuts, mangoes, lychees, and a variety of vegetables. Dahanu itself is the largest manufacturer of balloons in the world. Recently with the Dahanu Thermal Power Station coming up in Dahanu, there has been a concern among the farmers and business community about the environment in Dahanu Region.

By Train : Nearest railhead is Gholwad 2 km. It is also accessible from Dahanu 15 km on western railways.
